DESY Newsserver Policies
All articles are kept for 7 days with two exceptions: The articles in the desy.* groups stay forever and the articles in the alt.* groups just stay for 1 day.
Groups in existing hierarchies are created and removed in three different ways:
- groups with pgp-signed control messages are created/removed automatically
- groups with non-pgp-signed control messages are created/removed by the newsadministrator soon after the arrival of correct control messages
- alt.* and desy.* groups are created/removed by the newsadministrator on user request
New hierarchies might be added on user request (depends on how many user ask for a particular group, volume and available disk space, etc. ).
