Information Fabrics
As our name expresses, the Information Fabrics group is mainly concerned with information systems and their interconnection.
The main visible services of our group are:
e-mail services: Exchange, mail routing, mail filtering
web services: regular web space and CMS driven sites and applications
database services: Oracle
file services: AFS
backup and restore services: TSM
programming and adapting infrastucture services: User Registry
Other more hidden-from-view services include
directory services
authentication services
archive service TSM
consulting on computing infrastructures
storage infrastructure in the computing centers
Goal is to effeciently merge as many existing information systems as necessary to provide a better infrastructure at DESY as well as to architect, implement and operate new services as required.
