Possibilities to synchronize iOS-devices with Zimbra
Manual based on iOS 14.6.
Linking accounts with apps
For security reasons, account information should not be stored on external servers. Therefore, before using a third-party app, we recommend checking whether data is stored externally or asking the Uco.
We also do not recommend using the Outlook for iOS app, as the account information is stored on Microsoft servers.
General information about the calendar
Please note that the pre-installed iOS calendar app is not able to display attachments in appointments. If you want to see the attachments displayed as calendar appointments, we recommend using the Zimbra web interface, which you can reach at mail.desy.de.
We cannot currently recommend alternative third-party apps.
Add mail account
To add a mail account on your iPhone, go to the "Mail" subcategory in your Settings.
Variant 1: Add exchange account
With a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account¹ email, contacts and calendar can be synchronized with your iPhone.
1. Create a new account
In your settings, go to "Mail" and click "Add account".
If you have already created an account, you must first go to "Accounts".
2. Add Exchange account
Select "Microsoft Exchange".
3. Enter email address
Enter your DESY email address.
The description is freely chooseable and will be taken over as title for your account in Apps.
4. Select manual configuration
With the default settings, no connection to the DESY network can be established, so go to "Configure manually".
5. Enter password
Enter your password here.
6. Enter email server
In the field "Server" enter: mail.desy.de
Also, please enter your credentials.
7. Set permissions of apps
Your Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account is set up.
You can now authorize the apps that should access your account.
Variant 2: Add IMAP account
The IMAP protocol only synchronizes emails with your iPhone.
1. Create a new account
In your settings, go to "Mail" and click "Add account".
If you have already created an account, you must first go to "Accounts".
2. Add IMAP account
Select "Other".
Select "Add Mail Account".
3. Enter email credentials
Enter your name, your DESY email address and your password.
The description is freely chooseable and will be taken over as title for your account in Apps.
4. Configure incoming and outgoing mail server
As incoming mail server you specify: mail.desy.de
The outgoing mail server is: smtp-auth.desy.de
Enter your username and password for both servers.
5. Set permissions of apps
Your Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account is set up.
You can now authorize the apps that should access your account.
Calling up the zimbra web interface
To access the web interface, call up "mail.desy.de" in your internet browser.
Since the mobile version is no longer updated, we recommend switching to the Ajax version. If you use the mobile version, it may be that not every function is supported.
