Problem-solving

Problems with calendars can manifest themselves in many ways. If the observed behavior occurs in Outlook, first check whether the following instructions will help you to solve the problem:

If this does not help, we need to solve the problem to repeat it under the same conditions. Please note that a solution or clarification of the cause is quite unlikely, unless you and / or the UCO are able to recreate your problem. A problem with e-mails / Report calendars

If you want to report a problem to IT to the e-mail/calendar system, it helps us a lot if you describe the process of the problem as precisely as possible. Please send this and any further information to the UCO (uco@desy. de), also screenshots are often very helpful to illustrate the problem and the steps towards it:

Technical framework

  • Which devices, operating systems and operating system versions
    (Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, Android, ...) involved?
  • Which accounts or e-mail addresses are in which roles
    (sender, recipient, organizer, participant, . . . ) involved?
  • Which applications are used?
  • Become /had other devices been used for mail/calendar processing other than the one on which the
    Problem has been noticed?

 

General description of the problem

  • How exactly does the problematic behavior express itself and what behavior would you instead
    Expect?
  • Is there an error message, if so, what is it?
  • What steps were taken when and with which account that might cause the problem
    Caused?
  • Can the behaviour be provoked again under the same circumstances? Please do this once
    Test yourself
  • If several or all of the people involved are affected by the problem, or if it is only you or your partner, you or your
    one or an individual person (s) on (what)?

 

In case of problems with e-mails

  • Account with which the e-mail was written
  • Subject of the e-maill
  • Sending address
  • Receiving address
  • Time of transmission
  • Was the e-mail written in plain text (so-called plain text) or in HTML format?
  • Does the email, to your knowledge, have specific features related to the problem in
    Could be related?
  • Please send us the e-mail including its meta-information. Open to this
    the affected mailbox via https://mail. desy. de and click with the right mouse button
    on the e-mail. Then select “Show original” from the context menu. Save
    Put the text in a text file (. txt) and send it to us as an attachment.

 

In case of problems with appointments

  • Account with which the appointment was written
  • Subject of the date
  • Timing / Period of the appointment / period
  • Receiving addresses
  • When was the appointment initially set up?
  • In which calendar was the appointment created?
    -> If several accounts have permissions for editing on them:
    Who else is allowed to access the calendar?
  • Is it a serial date or an individual date?
  • Has the date of your knowledge according to peculiarities related to the problem in
    Could be related?
  • Was the appointment written in plain text (so-called plain text) or in HTML format?
  • Were Recently any changes made to the date that are related to the behaviour in
    Could be related?
  • Please send us the appointment including its meta-information. To do so, open the
    affected mailbox via https://mail. desy. de and click with the right mouse button. Then select “Show original” from the context menu. Save the text in a text file (. txt) and send it to us as an attachment.
