Function and handling

Supported functions for multifunction printers:

  • Printing
     
  • Copying
     
  • Scan to E-Mail  
    E-Mails can send only to DESY addresses or affiliated institutions.
    The E-Mail search is processed using LDAP.
    The senders name in the E-Mail will be "printername.scanner@desy.de".
    The E-Mail address can be stored on the printer..
     
  • Scan to Folder
    The dokument are write into a "Windows Group Folder".
    Location: S:\user\groups\_gruppe_\intern\ScanToFolder\ .
    Only users of this groups can read this folder.
    Die max size of the file are restricted from the group folder.
    This function will be enabled on the device by inquiry.
     
  • Sending FAX via internet
    The sending of FAX is processed via the function 'Scan to E-Mail' to the MRS FAX server. The server forwards the FAX to the recipient.
    The sending addresses has the number format:   faxg3/____________@fax.desy.de 
    The address input to an internal DESY - fax address is:  faxg3/49408994____@fax.desy.de 
    The sending scan format can be 'Tiff' or 'PDF'.
    After the FAX has been sent successfully the transmission confirmation and a banner sheet with the indication   "user: FAX"   and   "host: MRS-server" will be printed out.
    The receiving address is temporarily not attainable, the MRS-server tries up to 30 minutes to send the FAX. Afterwards an error message will be printed out.
     
  • Receiving FAX via internet
    Some devices can receive a FAX over the DESY MRS-FAX-server. The FAX number is attached to the device and is contained in the list of  DESY Network Printers.
    After receiving a FAX a banner sheet will be printed out with the indication 'User: FAX' and 'Host: MRS-server'
    This function will be enabled on the device by inquiry.
     
  • FAX via analogue line (optional)
    Some devices has an optional FAX card. The FAX number is attached to the device and is contained in the list of  DESY Network Printers.
    The sending scan format must be 'Tiff'.
     
  • Adding distribution lists and addresses
    The addresses can be added directly at the device or via the web-browser.
    The access for add or remove adresses over the web-browser has the local administrator  for the device and the UCO
     
  • Service
    In case of disturbances please contact the UCO, or write a print problem report.
