General Information
Software at DESY
DESY offers a central collection of software for the operating systems Windows, Linux and MacOS. This has proven very effective since the knowledge concerning the characteristics of the software is concentrated at a particular spot. You can find further information about alternative methods to obtain software here. Please note DESY offers only limited support for manually installed software.
Licenses
Please consider the explanations here on the subject of licenses.
Windows
For Windows the supported software is centrally distributed by our distribution application "DSM" and locally installed onto your computer.
Linux
Under Linux, software is partially provided via network installation through AFS and partially stored locally on the computers. In most cases, installation via the respective package manager using the official and preconfigured DESY software repositories is possible.
MacOS
For MacOS the supported software is centrally distributed by our distribution application "Munki" and locally installed onto your computer.
Getting Help & Support
As a matter of priority, support is provided primarily for the software obtained through the central distribution mechanisms described above.
