TeamViewer

TeamViewer is a remote access software that works across all platforms and allows users to access and control other computers from any location. With TeamViewer, supporters can access other computers as if they were sitting right in front of them, making it an ideal solution for remote support and remote access.

It is important that data protection rules are observed during remote assistance. In order for you to feel comfortable and safe, we would like to point out that you must actively agree to the remote assistance and you can terminate it at any time. During the remote help a conversation will be held on the phone with the support staff most of the time. Please make sure that your computer is supervised during this time and close all irrelevant programs and pages beforehand. This way you can ensure that your sensitive data remains protected.

You will need a license to use the Teamviewer Full Client. You will receive this license on request from the UCO. For this purpose, an account at Teamviewer will be created which is connected to your DESY email address.

If you are not using Windows, you can download the Teamviewer client from this link: https://get.teamviewer.com/62bf6rd.

If you are using Windows, you can find the full client in the DSM Shop, but your group administration must first grant your PC access for it to show up.

When you start the software for the first time, you will see a window with a note about an account affiliation. Please click on "Allow and finish". (See Figure 1)

You can now log in with your DESY mail and the provided password, please change the password after the first login. If you log in on a new device, you have to enter a two factor code. This will be sent to your email.

Teamviewer is currently planning to introduce a new interface, if you see this, you can simply switch back to the old interface. Since the new version Teamviewer cannot connect directly to IDs of old Fullclients or Quicksupport, you have to select the item Connect with Classic ID to do this.
