Printer setup (internal DESY network)
Most printers at DESY are network printers, i.e. you can reach the printers wirelessly via the Internet. The respective print queues belonging to the printer are set up with the help of DESY printer servers. The current DESY printer server in Hamburg is called adprint10 (host name). The successor adprint11 is already available in test mode.
This documentation describes the setup for printing from the internal DESY network. Alternatively, the following web page describes how to print from the guest network:

⤷Which purpose has the DESY printer server?
In order to be able to process your print requests and also those of other users in an organized manner, there is a central printer server in the internal DESY network. The printer server can communicate with all network printers (printer clients). The printer server receives your print requests and forwards them to the respective network printer (printer client) in an organized manner.
⤷What is a print queue?
To organize print requests, the individual printers work on the principle of a queue. The print jobs are processed (printed) one after the other. To be able to use a printer in the DESY network, you must therefore set up this so-called print queue(s) of the printer on your PC.
💡 | On the new DESY printer server adprint11 there is only one print queue per printer, which processes all types of print jobs (e.g. black and white, color or A3 format prints). So you only have to set up one print queue on your PC. |
