Citrix XenServer Pool
We use Citrix XenServer for deploying virtual machines since 2006. The aim is to reduce energy consumption and space occupation in the computing rooms. By virtualizing services, we currently host over 1000 virtual machines on 80 physical servers.
Please use it-virtualization@desy.de to request a virtual machine. Currently, the costs are covered by IT - this might change in future and the requesting group will be charged. Generally, the costs of a virtual machine are much lower than a physical server.
